challenge never tasted so good
Hello, Pretties. You know, I was so happy with my results of The Pretty Healthy Challenge 1, that I was hyped about posting the new challenge yesterday........
But, I'm late! The plan is still to post the challenge on Sunday and then post an update with my copycat results of both images, on Friday. But, life happened and posting for yesterday had to take second place. I apologise to those who were expecting the new post and hope you weren't too disappointed. Now let me stop yapping and get right down to business.
This week we are cooking Mexican food. The 'healthy' image we're re-creating this week is a large, crispy vegetarian taco chock-full of green bell peppers, tomatoes, corn, onions and spinach. There's also a small side-bowl brimming with chunky tomato sauce.
Here's a fuller image of the healthy food we'll be creating this week. Doesn't it look mouthwatering?
And for the 'pretty' aspect of the challenge, I chose something that we can use afterward as decoration or as a gift. I love the sharp contrast of the bailing twine on the glass. One is delicate and shiny and the other is rugged and tough. I also love the little delicate heart made with brown paper. Seems like it's hanging there without a care in the world. For me, the tulip seals the deal for this being a 'pretty' creation.
I want you to remember that when doing The Pretty Healthy Challenge, we don't have to copycat either of these two images exactly as we see them. But it would be nice if we try to be as close as possible - especially with the 'healthy' image.
This week I'm introducing a new feature to the Challenge. I'll be adding information on the nutritional content of the healthy food we cook up together. Please note the following disclaimer regarding this feature.
*Disclaimer: I'm not a nutritionist, so the information I post is for general knowledge only, and is not meant as nutritional advice. I just think that this information can provide us with a broad idea of the health potential of the Challenge food and drinks.
From last weeks' challenge I discovered that eating healthy can be fun. I had such a great time getting it done. I'm excited about trying those tacos! And I'm already wondering where I can get a glass bottle that comes close to the one in the image.
If you'd like, you can see last week's original challenge post and my copycat update here.
Will you be joining The Pretty Healthy Challenge this week? Did you do it last week? I'd love to hear what you think about it in the comments.
So, a funny thing happened on my way to posting my challenge results today. My website editor apparently had a glitch (I'm guessing this because I was getting either a blank screen or a 404 error result). At first I was kicking brass, then I just let it go and take its course. Yeah, so that happened.
The good news is that I've completed the challenge. I had to use a different camera, though, so I'm not loving the look. But I'll survive. I think I did pretty well with both aspects, but the food definitely takes the win today.
Here are my results for this week's The Pretty Healthy Challenge:
What do you think? Did I hit the mark? Or was it an epic fail? I know the pics aren't the best, but I'm just happy I got to finish this challenge. How about you? Did you do the challenge? How did your tacos taste? Mine was delicious.
